Bristle Blaster® Pneumatic (SP-647-BMC)
The industry standard for grit-free blasting. Simultaneously removes corrosion and generates anchor profile.
Applications · Singapore
Old primers on legacy structures and equipment removed locally with extraction, so there is no grit to dispose of as contaminated waste and no dust cloud across the site.
The problem on site
Older steel in Singapore (pre-2000 structures, imported equipment, legacy plant) often carries chromate or lead-based primers. Blasting them produces large volumes of contaminated grit and a dust hazard; the disposal cost can exceed the coating work.
Bristle blasting removes the coating mechanically with no added media, so the only waste is the coating itself, captured by an extraction hood. Flakecoat prepares the method statement and waste-handling plan with your EHS team, removes the coating locally, and applies the replacement system.

How it is done
Sample and test for chromate and lead before work starts; the result drives the EHS plan.
Localised removal with the coating fines captured at the tool.
Collected coating waste handled under the licensed route agreed with your EHS team.
Feathered edges and a compatible replacement system, documented.

No process is dust-free; it produces far less airborne material than blasting and, with the extraction hood, the fines are captured at the tool. PPE and the site’s hazardous-coating procedure still apply.
Usually not. Sound legacy coating can often be overcoated after adhesion testing; only failed and disturbed areas are removed. We advise after inspection.
We collect and containerise it; disposal goes through the licensed route agreed with your EHS team.
