Grit-free preparation and coating for shipyards, vessels and offshore assets

Weld seams, decks, ballast tanks, sea chests and splash zones prepared and coated alongside other trades, in Tuas and Benoi yards, at anchorage and offshore, without a blast crew and its containment.

The situation on site

Working in this sector

Yard schedules in Singapore are measured in days. Touch-up and repair work that has to wait for a blasting window costs berth time, and a blast nozzle never reaches every seam, coaming and fitting anyway. Flakecoat’s crews prepare steel with MontiPower® Bristle Blaster® tools to a cleanliness comparable to Sa 2½ with a 65–85 µm profile, working next to welders and fitters, and apply glass-flake and epoxy systems the same day.

For hull and splash-zone work below the waterline the Bristle Blaster® Subsea prepares steel underwater for diver-applied repairs. For propeller shafts, seawater pipes and fibreglass tanks we provide FRP reinstatement.

What we do here

Typical scopes of work

Weld seams, decks & fittings

Grit-free preparation of seams, coamings, hatch edges and deck fittings while other trades keep working.

Ballast tanks & sea chests

Glass-flake polyester and epoxy systems over bristle-blasted steel in confined spaces, with no media to remove afterwards.

Subsea & splash zone

Bristle Blaster® Subsea for underwater preparation; splash-zone linings on jacket legs, risers and jetty piles.

FRP reinstatement

Fiberglass matting and resin systems for propeller shaft protection, seawater pipe repair and storage tank rebuilding.

Questions we get asked

Before you tender

Learn more about our heritage and the specialized services we provide.

Can you work alongside hot work and other trades?

Yes. Bristle blasting produces no grit cloud, so surface preparation continues while welding, fitting and painting go on nearby. Dust extraction hoods are available where the yard specifies dust control.

Do you attend vessels at anchorage or offshore?

Yes. Cordless and pneumatic tools travel with the crew; we mobilise to anchorage, FPSOs and platforms across the region with the operator’s logistics.

Which owners and yards have you worked with?

Singapore’s major yards and marine engineering groups are listed on our clients page. References are provided on request with your quotation.
